Synopsis for Superman & Batman: "Beasts of Plague!"

In Gotham City, Batman captures a criminal smuggling domestic animals to Metropolis, but the thugs refuse to give an answer about their business. Meanwhile in Metropolis, Clark Kent learns that one of his co-workers has gone missing and goes looking for him as Superman. When he finds Ed Anders, Superman realizes that he has been infected with some kind of deadly virus and after leaving Ed's dead body at S.T.A.R. Labs, he goes to Gotham to ask for Batman's detective skills.

Batman and Superman investigate the source of the virus and they learn that it is mainly transmitted from animals to humans. Knowing that there is a connection between the smuggling criminals he captured earlier, Batman interrogates the thugs and learns the location where they were supposed to deliver the animals.

Meanwhile, Lois Lane has gone looking for Anders and after following her clues to an abandoned warehouse, Lois is kidnapped by some criminals and taken to their boss, the mad scientist responsible for developing the deadly plague. The man tells Loise that his main concern is the ever growing population and that he plans to release his plague to control the human growth, killing millions. Superman and Batman find the warehouse in time to rescue Lois and stop the evil scheme. In the confrontation, the mad scientist is exposed to his own deadly plague and even after he is taken to S.T.A.R. Labs, the scientists cannot find a cure. Superman inhales the deadly plague and releases it in the sun, ending the threat of such a dangerous weapon.

After the case is solved, Lois decides to give the credits of the whole story to the late Ed Anders.
