Quote1 Superman, well he's seen a lot of things. He's encountered wonders we'd never find if we spent our whole lives away and searching. He's seen the Earth rise while standing in the tail of a streaking comet and shadowboxed with starfighters that could shatter a sun. He's walked on worlds the size of a thumb-print... and worlds made of water that broke at his touch into a thousand glistening droplets. Starts that scream and stars that sing and stars that think. He knows them all. We dream that we may someday catch a falling star... he's done it. Does that answer your question? Quote2

During the opening on a new disco-club in Gotham City, Superman and Batman encounter the Network, a group of super-villains whose powers are patterned after TV and radio effects, and who warp out the discotheque into another dimension using their combined powers.

While Superman investigates the "white noise" dimension, Batman goes to the record company that had previosly hired these people. During his investigation, Batman finds that the Network is blackmailing the president of the company and attemtps to stop them, but only manages to get himself trapped in the white noise dimension.

Notes

  • This issue doesn't feature a letter page and instead it has a page written by editor Janice Race about the events at the DC offices. However, according to Race, this change was due to the lack of letters concerning World's Finest, which could probably indicate the declining sales and interest of the series, only eleven issues away from its cancellation.

Trivia

  • The television network called RTV of this issue is a parody of the real life TV network MTV. There is also a reference to Michael Jackson, who was highly popular back then thanks to MTV.
