Appearing in the 1st Story
Synopsis for the 1st Story
Mary sees Freckles, who tells her Bart Bruto, an escaped criminal, is in the vicinity. She wants to look for him but Mary wants to have peace. A girl Lucy Lye says there is a maniac with an axe nearby. Mary and Freckles become Marvels, but find out it is an oddly shaped tree, and that Lucy was lying. They start having a picnic together, but Lucy, after going off, says there is a bear. Though Freckles thinks it is a lie, Mary Marvel goes off and finds it was a lie. However a real bear attacks, but Mary stops it, saying the lie made so much noise the bear came after her. She goes off again, then yells about a witch. However the two girls think she is lying again, while she is really being carried away by a figure in dark clothing. She is taken to a shack and tied up, the 'Witch' saying they couldn't let the Kid go and report her. When Lucy doesn't return, Mary is worried, while Freckles think she is tricking them again. They search for her by following footprints and see the shack. However when they open the door they are both knocked out. When they come to all three girls are tied to chairs and gagged. The 'Witch' decides to get rid of them, but Mary is able to get her gag loose on the chair and transform. The villain starts shooting at her, but the bullets just bounce off. Lucy has worked one arm free, removes her gag, and tells the somehow ungagged Freckles she will try to free her, to which Freckles says she wants to get in on the fight. She strikes the crook, and it is revealed it is Bruto, who says he had the disguise in case anybody saw him. But Mary says Lucy yelled so much he decided to capture her and shut her up. However she says if he had let Lucy go, no-body would have believed her story. Lucy says she has learned not to lie again.
