Wyynde is an ancient Atlantean warrior. He was a good friend of Arion, Lord of Atlantis.

Wyynde was born 45,000 years ago in the land of the Khe-Wannantu, a people who greatly resembled in their appearance and culture of the Native Americans of later centuries. Wyynde's father was the dhonu, or king of the Khe-Wannantu and Wyynde was expected to become his father's successor. But Wyynde did not wish to sacrifice his freedom in order to become dhonu, and he left his people. Eventually, Wyynde became a soldier for the City of the Golden Gate in Atlantis.

Wyynde was a member of a Atlantean patrol lead by Lady Chian that clashed with a group of primitive "sub-men." He wounded by the sub-men's arrows and became separated from the rest of his patrol. Wyynde became lost in the snow-covered wilderness, and the glare from the snow rendered him blind. Wyynde almost willingly gave himself up to death when he was mentally contacted by the sorcerer Calculha, who guided him in finding a blood-red gem, which contained the essence of Calculha's son Ahri'ahn. Instructed by Calculha, Wyynde helped in restoring Ahri'ahn's body and in turn regaining his sight. Wyynde misunderstood Ahri'ahn's name, and called him Arion, the name the reborn sorcerer used in his new incarnation.[1] Afterwards, Wyynde became one of Arion's closest friends, and was romantically pursued by the shape-changer Mara.

Upon learning the death of his father, Wyynde returned to the Khe-Wannantu and became their new dhonu.[2] He then married one of the Khe-Wannantu, Fawndancer, who had been pledged to him before her birth.[3] But soon afterwards, the land of the Khe-Wannantu was sunk beneath the sea by Arion's evil brother Garn Daanuth.[4] The only survivors of the Khe-Wannantu were Wyynde, his brother Nightfire, and Fawndancer, who was transformed into a sea creature.[5] Wyynde's grief, combined with the strain on his mind when Garn Daanuth temporarily took control of it, caused Wyynde to withdraw from reality mentally for a time.[6] Later, Wyynde was genetically altered into a beast-man.[7] But Arion succeeded in restoring Wyynde to his true form, and Wyynde was once more in good mental condition.[8]

Wyynde survived the sinking of the City of the Golden Gate. Some years afterwards, however, a restless Wyynde led an expedition that never returned.[9]
