Zor was an enemy of the Spectre.

Outside of time and space, there is a secret order of angels who work to keep the fabric of reality fresh and vibrant. However, one of them, named Zor, tried to rebel against the others, and he came to the real world to try to tear it all down. Laying the foundations, he altered reality to create the threat of the Sheeda.

Zor is known to have fought the Spectre (Jim Corrigan), three times,[1][2][3]. In their first encounter, describing himself as a "spirit confined to Earth", Zor abducted Corrigan's love interest Clarice Winston to an extradimensional fortress seemingly just to vex the Spectre for his own amusement, but Corrigan defeated him thanks to the intercession of the Voice. Later, Zor faced the Newsboys of Nowhere Street[4], but his activities since then are unknown. In the run-up to the Infinite Crisis, he planned to destroy the efforts of the Seven Unknown Men with the Sheeda. Eventually, however, he was fought by Zatanna at Slaughter Swamp, where she defeated him[5]. He was captured by the Seven Unknown Men and was enmeshed in the origin of Solomon Grundy: he was made to look like Cyrus Gold and was lynched by a mob[6].

Powers

  • Magic: Vast mystic powers, rivaling those of the Spectre.
  • Omnipotence: As a Time Tailor, Zor technically exists outside the narrative, and so is theoretically omnipotent while in the story. Zatanna says that he is omnipotent.[7]
  • Occultism
  • Gadgetry

Weaknesses

  • Power Loss: Zor's magic doesn't work against ectobane, a tree which only is found in a distant country named Lugania.

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-Two era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and no longer apply.
  • Zachary Zor has a magnificent beard and he knows you want one.[7]
