Zharan Pel was a Green Lantern of Sector 2813 about a quarter of a million years ago. His tiny planet was attacked by the evil creation known as Doomsday. After a few attacks by Zharan Pel using his power ring, Doomsday adapts to the Green Lantern energy, he kills and takes his Power Ring. The Guardians of the Universe appeared as energy projections, but Doomsday destroyed them.

Now aware of the Guardians powers, the creature used Zharan Pel's power ring to travel to the planet Oa, killing hundreds Green Lanterns on the way. When Doomsday arrived on Oa, the creature was confronted by the Guardians. During the battle of will Doomsday constantly adapted to their powers. At the realisation he would soon reach the Central Power Battery, the Guardians released the totality of his energies, which destroyed Zharan Pel's power ring and sending the indestructable creature light years away towards the planet Calaton.[1]

A Black Lantern Zharan Pel was present at the Blackest Night following Black Hand's revival of the Fallen Lanterns.[2]
